Being Authentically You

Are you being authentically you?  And, what does that even mean, anyway?

I talk a lot about getting still, remembering who you are, and why you’re here.  That’s where you start, because if you don’t remember who you are, how can you even consider whether or not you’re being the real you, the authentic you?

I know some of you haven’t tried getting still and remembering who you are, because you are afraid of what you’ll find.  Maybe you won’t like who you find, or maybe you WILL like who you are, but you’re afraid the real you won’t fit in that box you’re trying to live in.  But, don’t you want to know the truth?  Isn’t it better to know who you are than to spend your life wondering if you could be living a much more magical life?

I have some good news for you.  Once you remember who you are and why you’re here, YOU still get to decide whether or not you want to live as your authentic self.  That’s right.  No one is going to force you to be authentic.  You may decide you don’t want to make waves.  If you do, you can still just keep on living like you always have.  Maybe you’ll even find out you’re already living your best life.  On the other hand, if you do like who you find and you want to live a different sort of life, you have that choice.  It is completely and totally up to you.  I know I’ve shared one of my favorite movie scenes before, but it fits here, too, so I’ll share it again.  You know the one - that red pill and blue pill scene in The Matrix.  You can always choose that blue pill.  Nothing will change.  Life will continue as you know it.  If you are ready to be your most authentic self, take the red pill and see just how deep the rabbit hole goes.

That is where the real you resides in Wonderland.  THAT is being authentically you.  Are you ready to jump in to your most magical life?

All my life, no matter what change I’ve experienced, I’ve been able to use journaling to remember who I am, begin to understand what I can learn from this change, and how my experience can help other people going through something similar.  Get my free prompts, “Journaling for Answers,” and start finding your own answers within.
